What kind of writing do you publish and in what mediums?
At this time Invader Press is accepting manuscripts to all genres of both fiction and non-fiction. Depending on the individual agreement we will publish and distribute your book in many mediums including hardcover, soft-cover, audio book, and e-book versions of your book.
If you publish my book, when will I see it in print?
Your book will be published within a year of our acceptance and agreement. Usually, a year is the longest timeframe we require and the book is published in a matter of a few months. We want to release your book as soon as it is possibly ready, at the same time putting forth the best quality of work possible.
What is an ISBN and EAN barcode? Will my book carry them?
An ISBN (known as an International Standard Book Number) is a unique identifying number for your book. All books need this number to enter into the marketplace. Every book sold in bookstores throughout the world has its own ISBN, and the ISBN helps to ensure that the books are identified, ordered, and shipped correctly. The barcode on a book's cover includes both the ISBN and scanning information. EAN is a thirteen digit, strictly numeric bar code for the publishing industry. It is derived from the ISBN number assigned to a particular title. EAN helps allow retailers track inventory. All books published under the Invader Press imprint carry a ISBN and EAN barcode.
Are you a PoD agency, a book doctor, a publisher, or some kind of hybrid?
Invader Press is a book publisher first and foremost. Though we do offer the services of Print on Demand, this is simply seen to us as a secondary resource for would-be authors. As for being a hybrid, that depends on how you define the term. If you consider a publishing company who in addition to standard publishing offers services that are of a more author involved nature, then yes we are a hybrid. We feel these resources allow the author more control in the artistic direction of their work at the same time as providing all of the advantages of a full service traditional publisher.
nd promote helpful steps in furthering a future writers dream in someday seeing their book in print.
Should I have an agent?
We select our authors without the need for agents. If you have already signed up with an agent, tell them to contact us with your work, and we will gladly study their proposal. But it will be no different than when you contact us yourself.
Our book contracts are straightforward and there is always room for negotiating. Most of our contracts expire after seven years, but you can make it indefinitely if you want. We will leave it up to you to sign any non-book rights over to us or not, and there's a number of other issues that you may want to test the flexibility of. Pretty straightforward stuff, something no one needs an agent for as there is really not much an agent can do that most of you can’t do yourself. However, if you are already committed to an agent, you must honor that commitment. Most agents are very pleasant to work with for a publisher.
